TAN-AID Tanning Supplements are vitamins specially formulated for tanning. All-natural ingredients provide the vitamins and aminoacids that your body needs to ensure optimal performance during the body’s natural tanning process. TAN-AID contains no dyes or additives that artificially color your skin. The tan you get is your own! TAN-AID is used during your normal exposure to the sun or tanning lamp, to boost your body’s natural production of Melanin. This translates into a quicker, darker tan!
HOW DO I USE TAN-AID?
Use TAN-AID Tanning Supplements during your normal tanning activities, either at the beach or tanning salon. Take 2 capsules, twice a day, starting a day before tanning. In addition, make sure you take TAN-AID until the day after tanning, since our bodies continue to produce Melanin up to 24 hours after exposure to UVR. Between tanning sessions you can take 1 capsule twice a day, until the next time you tan, and then you increase it to 2 capsules twice a day again.
ARE THERE ANY PEOPLE WHO SHOULD AVOID USING TAN-AID?
Yes, even though TAN-AID is a natural supplement with FDA-approved ingredients that have been in use for decades by the vitamin supplements industry, there are 3 instances in which the use of Tyrosine-based supplements is contra-indicated (meaning that it should be avoided).
HOW AND WHY DOES MY SKIN GET TANNED AFTER EXPOSURE TO UVR?
The process of “tanning” occurs after our skin is exposed to Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR), whether from the sun or tanning salon. Skin cells called Melanocytes, which reside in the Epidermis (outer layer of the skin), synthesize the aminoacid Tyrosine into a protein called Melanin, which is the pigment that makes our skin darker after we are exposed to UVR. This results in what we call a “tan”.
IF I USE TAN-AID WILL GET A TAN WITHOUT EXPOSURE TO UVR?
No! The only way to get a REAL
tan is through exposure to UVR. Only the natural process of Melanogenesis
(production of Melanin after exposure to UVR) will cause a natural and
even-looking darkening of your skin (that is why you can always tell when
someone’s tan is “fake” or not- other products are actually dyes that
artificially color your skin orange to simulate a tan). TAN-AID Tanning
Supplements boost the body’s NATURAL tanning process, helping your body
help itself during the production of Melanin, as nature intended.
I HAVE FAIR SKIN, WILL TAN-AID WORK FOR ME?
Yes! TAN-AID will in fact work for people with fair skin, as it will increase Melanin production. But the reality is that a fair-skinned person you will have to work a bit harder at getting a nice tan than someone who already has dark skin, but nevertheless it is within reach! Here are a few important points to remember.
1) Tan slowly- once you start taking TAN-AID Tanning Supplements the body will be in a position to produce more Melanin, but you must still allow your body the opportunity to adapt to receiving and responding to UV rays. Even though this is an oversimplification of the tanning process, imagine your Melanocyte cells are muscles. You must "exercise" them, as it were. Remember they have not been in that much use. So, the same way you would not start at the gym with a 400 pound weight, you do not want to go full blast into the sun or tanning bed and expect your cells to tan you like a Polynesian, even if you're taking TAN-AID! So slow and steady is the way to go. Gradually increase the time you spend in the sun or salon, and you will soon the the difference.
2) A person's skin type will determine the amount and concentration of Melanocyte cells in the skin (the cells that produce Melanin), and the type of Melanin produced (there are two major types). But as long as a person does not have Albinism (lack of Melanin) any person will in fact tan. What TAN-AID does is make sure that you produce the maximum amount of Melanin possible for your skin type. This, combined with a slow methodic approach will allow you to get a good base tan, upon which you can then work upon, and it will get easier and easier to tan.
3) Water is your friend- what this means is that you must maintain your skin moisturized and your body hydrated throughout the tanning process. TAN-AID will do it's part by providing the necessary nutrients to produce more Melanin, but that will be no use if you're dehydrated and your skin is dry. You must maintain the proper level of hydration at all times!
ARE THESE THE INFAMOUS "TANNING PILLS" THAT TURN YOUR SKIN ORANGE?
NO!! There are two types of ingestible tanning products: those with artificial dyes such as Canthaxanthin or Beta Carotene (tanning pills), and those with the natural aminoacid Tyrosine (“Tanning Supplements“).
1) “Tanning pills” contain Canthaxanthin or Beta-Carotene, and work on the principle of artificially dyeing your skin. These chemicals are Carotenoids, derived from several sources, such as carrots and tomatoes. When the user takes these, the dyes are absorbed by the body and are deposited in the subcutaneous layer of skin cells to impart a them red/ orange hue, thereby simulating a tan (“fake“, or “self-tan“). There are many people who are happy with these but there a few drawbacks. First of all, what you get is not really a tan. And no matter how well you use them, you will always be able to tell the difference between a real and fake tan because the effect that Carotenoids have on the body is totally different than that of Melanogenesis: Melanin production can only occur through exposure to UVR. Second, failure to use Canthaxanthin properly, following specific weight and time consumption curves, will result in the saturation and excessive deposits of these chemicals in your hands, feet, and eyes, making them look orange or red. In extreme cases, especially after prolonged use of Canthaxanthin, you may develop a condition called “Unilateral Canthaxanthin Retinopathy”. And third, there is the fact that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved Canthaxanthin for use as a tanning agent, but only as a food coloring agent. Canthaxanthin-containing products are the notorious, original “tanning pills”, which account for such negative perception among the tanning community. Most people who have had bad things to say, or have heard bad things, are referring to Canthaxanthin-containing tanning pills.
2) “Tanning Supplements” on the other hand, refer to products with the aminoacid Tyrosine as the main ingredient, and are by definition Dietary Supplements (and thus fall under the provisions of the FDA’s DSHEA). The principle behind tanning supplements with Tyrosine is the intent to promote the structure and function process of the body during Melanogenesis, after exposure to UVR. That is, to assist the body during the production of Melanin by providing the appropriate chemicals (vitamins, minerals, and aminoacids) during tanning. The principal ingredient, Tyrosine, is the key. As you may or may not know, Melanin (the natural pigment in the body that causes a tan) is synthesized from Tyrosine. When skin cells detect UVR they send a “signal” to the Melanocyte cells to convert Tyrosine into Melanin for distribution to the surrounding Keratinocytes . Melanin, of course, is a dark proteinic pigment which has extraordinary photochemical and UVR-blocking properties: it's the body's natural suncreen. The Keratinocytes cells in the Epidermis are thus enveloped by the dark Melanin and a tan is born. Also during this process, called Melanogenesis, other chemicals come into play that are essential to the conversion of Tyrosine into Melanin, namely Copper, Vitamin E, and others. Tanning Supplements are used taking them before, during, and after tanning at the beach or salon. It is important to maintain a steady intake of Tyrosine during the tanning period because Tyrosine is not readily stored in the body, and it is necessary to continually provide Tyrosine to the Melanocyte cells during Melanin production cycle. Of importance is to continue taking Tyrosine until at least the day after tanning, because of the fact that the body continues to produce Melanin up to 24 hours after exposure. That is why you really see the tan the day after exposure to UVR- you body is still “tanning” as you sleep. And as far as side or adverse effects of Tyrosine supplementation, there are none. As a matter of fact there are positive effects: Tyrosine is a precursor of the neurotransmitters dopamine (elevates mood), norepinephrine (appetite suppresser), and epinephrine (produces adrenaline). For these reasons Tyrosine is also used by people under stress, depression, or even dieting due to its mood-elevating effects. In any case, the importance of Tyrosine supplementation during tanning cannot be stressed enough. The only drawback, if it can be called that, is that exposure to UVR is required. You will not get a tan by simply taking these supplements and staying indoors watching TV. It’s necessary to go out into the sun or tanning salon in order for them to work. The plus side is that the resulting tan is exactly that, a real tan. There is no substitute for the process which the body has taken millennia to complete. No other process can re-create a natural tan. The customers who use these all say that they are able to achieve a darker tan, in a shorter amount if time. And without exception, and more important, they say the tan lasts longer than without using Tyrosine supplementation.
WILL TAN-AID WORK WITH TANNING BEDS?
Yes! Tanning lamps produce UVR, which stimulates the skin cells to produce Melanin just as the sun does. TAN-AID boosts the tanning process, enabling you to achieve a quicker, darker tan, naturally and safely. So make sure you help your body help itself before heading to the tanning salon or beach, by using TAN-AID Tanning Supplements!
IS TAN-AID SAFE TO USE?
Absolutely! With the exception of the three instances mentioned above (which are really common sense, and are mentioned in the interest of erring on the side of caution), TAN-AID is 100% safe to use and all-natural. Every single ingredient in TAN-AID is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. And TAN-AID is manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities, under strict quality control supervision by State and Federal agencies. Each bottle of TAN-AID is double factory sealed for peace of mind. Tan your best with TAN-AID!
